Louw Tide

It was great. A beautiful place and we plan to go again. Just a couple of things - BBQ is rusty, so could be replaced. Portable radiator heaters don’t help much at all. Dishwasher doesn’t clean dishes well. All things we could deal with, but they didn’t do the beautiful home justice.

This is the second time we have rented Louw Tide - Lovely house, lovely view, lovely location!!! I would recommend it - and booking thru Bodgea Bay Escapes makes it easy!!

This is our second stay in this beautiful midcentury modern home on a cliff overlooking the ocean. This time we brought our daughter and son-in-law along. The view is spectacular, and it has pretty much everything a person needs to feel comfortable, put on a few meals, and relax on the deck by the fire or in a lounge chair. We did have a snag in the ocean-side bedroom in that the lights wouldn't come on. Same with a lamp or two in the living area. We finally found a flipped breaker in a closet, on Day 2, and that took care of it. It's just an exquisite place to stay for adults with no more than 4 people. I hope we get to return!

The architecture was more interesting than I expected although the bedrooms and bathrooms are small. Like almost all ocean-facing houses in California, late afternoon sunshine is very annoying. The master bedroom is in the back.

The lack of central heat can be challenging on the frequent cool mornings and evenings and likely quite unpleasant on a rare cold day.

Trying to comply with the water shortage means washing your hands in cold water and sharing toilet flushes.

The neighborhood gardens were very nice.

Nicely Stocked, very clean , owners care ! Bummer was no easy beach excess :( and should be highlighted NO W/D. At a beach home that’s hard. Closest is 17 miles or 30 mins

Considering the fact that I broke my leg and had two surgeries just 2 weeks prior to my arrival date, the management company worked with us on all possibilities of refunding ar rescheduling, however at the last minute my doctor cleared me to fly. I must say that Louw Tide is fairly wheelchair friendly and I did not regret my desicion to go. Wow, what a beautiful place..... We will be back for another visit in the future when I can properly walk. We were really amazed by the renovation before and after transformation, and really enjoyed the artwork. Our only regret was not being able to see if more beautiful works adorned her studio.

Overall our stay at Louw Tide was very relaxing. We had to call management to get instructions on how to light the Bar B Q. Unfortunately this was Saturday and we did not get a response until Monday.The butane lighters that were at the house were empty. My husband had to change out the propane tank because it was empty and the grill for the gas bar b q had not been cleaned.
I was bitten by a spider while sleeping in the bedroom that overlooks the ocean. There was a spider web between the mattress and headboard and the floor under the bed was not clean. We cleaned the floor under the bed with a mop in case the spider was still there.
There were ants in the living room and kitchen.
I suggest that the property be sprayed for spiders & ants.

The property is very clean and has excellent view to the beach. Sipping wine at the fire pit on the deck was great. It is close to the Wrights beach and Duncans point so good hiking opportunities.

The only downside is the lack of central heating system. It relies on fireplace place and individual heaters to keep the house warm. Bath room has timer based heater which needs to be turned on every time. It is energy efficient but minor inconvenience.

Overall very happy with our stay. Wonderful location.

Perfect Getaway. Truly perfect lil house for 2 couples and I will be back. Loved the house but the sheets and bedding need updating...worn and feel cheap. Couches: handsome but not comfy.Heavier blankets for cold weather stored in ocean view bdm, good idea! Kitchen was a joy to cook in. Ant control could use some help;=)

Wonderful house, greatest view--only problem the couches were TOO LOW--please raise the paintings and put the legs back on the couches! It was very hard for a couple of us to get up! We would love to rent this house rent this house again.

We two plus our daughter and son-in-law shared a week at Louw Tide, a dramatic and beautifully furnished home overlooking Wright’s Beach. Perched on the cliff s at Duncan’s Landing, Louw Tide’s wrap-around glass yielded unmatched views including whale sightings. Wow! It’s an architech’s dream, literally, as the owners are both architect and artist. Mya Louw’s work adorns many of tjebhomes special places.

We had a wonderful 11 days at Louw Tide for Christmas & New Year's. It is a beautiful home with stunning oceanfront views, comfortable beds with a nice state of the art kitchen if you like to cook. A truly remarkable experience both with Bodega Bay Escapes and at Louw Tide. From the breathtaking view, the cleanliness and décor of this beautiful home to the feel of the sand beneath our feet...we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay here. Can't wait for our return. Cheers!

Lovely home-spectacular views. Place was tranquil and quiet. Kitchen well equipped except could not find (or they did not have) a set of dry measuring cups, measuring spoons, coffee scoop, or garlic press. Minor inconveniences for sure, but inexpensive items that might make a guest's stay easier. I made do and did not address this with management as it was trivial. Management was friendly and helpful at check in. We would gladly stay there again when in Northern California.

It is all about the ocean for us and Louw Tide is located on the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Easy and safe parking.

It was absolutely wonderful. I couldn’t have asked for a house with better amenities. I absolutely loved the design the cleanliness and most importantly the view. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about these marvelous people who are willing to share their house with us. It was perfect. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

The Home was tastefully furnished and provided every amenity possible. Our family has visited Wright's Beach every Thanksgiving for 42 years. Louw Tide was a "gift" to our self after admiring the property. Both master bedrooms were perfect, one with ocean view and the other with fireplace and darling garden view. I could sit for hours admiring the fantastic view of my beloved Wright's Beach. The only issue we had was handled quickly by the property management. I have already recommended Louw Tide to all my family and friends.

The prettiest house we have ever rented! Straight out of a coastal living magazine with 360* view of gorgeous coastline. Feels like a model home it's so fresh, clean and stylish. Filled with wonderful art by the owner, made you wish you could meet her! We hiked down to the beach from Duncan's Landing overlook and walked the Kortum trail which goes all the way to Goat rock and the Russian river! Magnificent views and beaches along the way! Lots of great local restaurants and a great kitchen if you like to cook! We had such a great week and hope to return in the spring to see the amazing flowers around the deck! Loved seeing dolphins feeding, a little gray fox, seals and happy cows grazing. Loved every minute of our stay!

Loved our stay at Louw Tide. The house is perfect -- beautifully designed and executed in teals, turquoise and aquas. Two master suites -- one smaller with ocean views, one larger with a gas fireplace and a private courtyard. No fighting over who gets the best room because both are perfect in their way. The house is well supplied, clean, and beautifully managed. A bit isolated, subject to chill winds and the road is a twister, but we count those as pluses. Would return in a heartbeat.

WOW! What a beautiful home. So close to the beach and other places of interest.

We brought friends from Maryland here for the weekend. We were all mesmerized by the view and the house itself. Can't wait for another excuse to go back.

From the moment we walked in the door, until the moment we closed it at the end of our stay, all was mostly perfect. The home is very well appointed and stylishly designed. We enjoyed beach walks and amazing sunsets. We did miss the fire bench which was out of order. The front of the house is all windows to take advantage of the amazing views. The windows were hazed over with ocean mist so our son hosed them, squeeged them and they were crystal clear for our stay -- took 15 minutes. We highly recommend this lovely home.

Tough one. Loved the house and loved the views (to die for). Listening to the waves crashing ashore was magical. The finishes are nice and the attention to detail was obvious. I had a tough time with not having cell service as I was still somewhat attached to work. It would be nice to have a washer and drier and there could be more towels. Unfortunately for us we had to leave early. Would love to be able to experience this again.

Our group of two couples stayed here in July. This was the first time on the Sonoma Coast. As soon as we arrived we were impressed, and the feeling never left us. The living / dining area really does have wall to wall ocean views. The deck and fire pit really are the perfect place to enjoy some wine and look at the sunset. The well stocked kitchen and grill met our needs very well. The rooms were very tastefully appointed. Perhaps the best way to describe how wonderful this was is to note that we were initially making plans to take various day trips and scratched them because we wanted to maximize our time in the house.

We had a great stay. The vacation rental is in a great location with an outstanding view. The place is clean and in good shape. The rental management staff is very helpful.

This is my 15th year going to Vista del Mar. When I first found it, I knew I "was home." The location cannot be beat. I look forward to visiting many more times in the future.

House is very clean and well maintained. Many amenities in house.
However, furniture is mostly old, to give a feeling of how it originally was. Or maybe owner have an affinity to the furniture.
not internet access and even no phone signal. we found that to be a nice way to disconnect from the crazy world we live in and help us de-stress.
Would suggest to guests to be mindful;l of wild life in area and be careful not drive fast in area.

Great house for disabled people- the view from inside is breathtaking. Only drawback is the dated and aging decor,and small bathrooms.

Would like to stay again sometime in spring.

We had the most spectacular time! We have stayed on the coast renting cabins through the rental agency that has gone out of business and we were a little apprehensive since we had always had good experience with them. We have no more worries and will continue to rent vacation rentals through Bodega Bay Escapes. Our hope is that you will pick up the rentals such as the "Dunes" at Salmon Creek and we will be able to continue our family tradition of staying there with our grand children!

We rented two units to accommodate a family gathering for Thanksgiving and everyone was extremely pleased with the accommodations and the setting.

This was our first time renting a house at the ocean. The view was unparalleled. The moment we walked in we were happy and stayed that way. The beds were comfortable, the showers were hot, the dishwasher worked wonderfully. There was everything we needed for entertainment, puzzles, good books etc. We had 4 spectacular sunsets and one evening of light fog. We like fog. We would love to stay again all 6 of us.

We had a fantastic week! The view from the house is incredible and now that were home, we miss the sound of the pounding waves. We will definately rent this house again. Loved it!

I hope that this review is read by the managers; they were great, by the way. The house we've stayed in several times over the past 10 years or so; it's one of our favorites.

Things the owners/managers should improve:
1) Must actually have a KING SIZED BED in the master bedroom
2) TV needs to be larger -- way to small for a group of folks to enjoy an evening movie!!

Other than that -- a 'wish' would be for a nice hot tub -- tee hee -- that would make it a 10+.

Perfect getaway if you love the sound of the ocean and easy access to walks and beach combing.
The beach is really not safe for swimming or children near the waves so be aware.
If it is calm there is a great beach for kids just over the cliff at Duncans Cove however and plenty of others a short drive away.
August fog usually disipates by midday but remember sunblock anyway as it is only a thin cover and you can still burn.
Russian river kayaking is very accesible and good value, best to go upstream first and have an easy ride back.
Remember your kites!
